AMERICAN
SOUL
|
A leading historian’s provocative personal journey and probing look at
the state of America as we enter the next millennium.
“The scope and grandeur of American Soul are surpassed only by
its feet-on-the-ground accessibility. Schurmann points the way to the
next millennium where — surprise — a compassionate spirituality awaits
us.” “Welcome to the twenty-first century! If Schurmann is correct, we may
all live to see better days. Intuitive, informed, passionate, his American
Soul is a new kind of book for a new way of thinking.” American Soul delves into our collective psyche and calls for a reinvigoration of the life of the spirit, both in society and in the individual. Looking out on the world from the edge of the Pacific at the end of the century, Schurmann draws on the lessons of history to provide a thoughtful compass for navigating the next millennium. |
